What an unusual venue!!

Over the seventeen plus years that we have been performing Murder Mystery events we have work in some brilliant location in the UK and Europe, but last week was one of those to remember. The venue was called the Roost in NE London it is normally used as a film and photographic location, being used by the BBC, National Magazines and pop groups such as Oasis and Blur. It has all the mod cons for functions and they have their own caterers who come in and cook the food for clients in house.

We entertained 20 people from a London based communication company who were a brilliant audience.

The building was formed of four floors with about 16 rooms. Having undertaken our pre-murder mingle on the ground floor we performed the dastardly deed on the 1st floor, then following their main course the guests moved around the whole building to inspect the clues and cross-examine the suspects.

What made it unusual was that each wall of every room was decorated in a different style, or period in time and each wall had the furniture etc in front of it for the period/style of the wall.

It sounds hideous but it was really atmospheric and worked really well.

Here's to the next unusual venue!!!!

Christmas can be Murder!!!

A big step forward relating to the latest Christmas Murder Mystery Production, 'Christmas can be Murder!' The final words of the script were typed into the computer earlier today. All the characters are finalised and we start rehearsals in a few weeks time. Following a Dress Rehearsal we perform it in front of a paying audience for the first time on Tuesday 2nd December at one of our favourite venues, Oakwood House in Maidstone and we already have it booked for over 15 other dates so far in December .

Following our spring cleaning month it's going to be murder for the forseeable future!!

As per every year since 1990 we've just been through our quiet month, August is a perfect month to spring clean the set and equipment as well as having a well deserved holiday.

The credit crunch hasn't affected us at the moment and we have at least one team booked every weekend until the end of April 2009 and a couple of bookings for 2010 already. But we still have another team available to perform a dastardly Murder Mystery for you, your company or group.

Our Bluebell Railway productions for 2008 are now sold-out and we have booked seven productions in 2009:- 6th March, 24th April, 15th May, 18th September, 9th October, 13th November and 10th December (all still have availability). We can also supply gift vouchers for Christmas, Birthdays and Anniversaries etc.

We are also performing on the Nene Valley Railway (Nr Peterborough) later this Month.

Don't forget that A Company Upfront Murder Mystery is perfect for your Team Building, Corporate, Social or Fund Raising events.

Creating a new Murder Mystery Production

The Company Upfront, Murder Mysteries to Die For produce a minimum of two new productions a year. From conception to production each taking around six months to create.

Not only do we have to write the script for the events leading up to and including the dastardly deed, we also have to write the conclusion, all of the character backgrounds, movements and
time lines etc.

Once the characters have been created we can then get into the rehearsal stage of the new production. We have nearly thirty actors on our books and normally we begin with just a few who will learn the new parts then once we're up and running other actors will take over as required.

All we then have to do is to build the sets, collect and bag all of the visual clues, make the costumes, layout and print the answer forms, character lists and floor plans etc, etc, etc.

A dress rehearsal in front of a seasoned and experienced invited audience
irons out any obvious mistakes and then the production is ready for you to invite us along to your venue and for you to have a go at using those little grey cells.

It's Murder at Christmas!!

The first words of our newest Christmas Murder Mystery production for 2008 were put to paper at the beginning of this week (June 08).

Hidden deep in the cellars of a building located somewhere in the English countryside there is a buried metal box which is locked shut and contains the secret of Christmas past, present and future.

It is said that if any mortal manages to learn the secret they will receive powers beyond anyone's wildest dream.

The box is guarded by an array of characters, the leader being a large and portly gentleman with rounded belly and long white beard and we're sure you'll recognise the other festive protectors of the secret.

The time is just before midnight on Christmas Eve and events which lead up to a dastardly murder will unfold in this very special place.

Will the secret of Christmas remain safe? Who will die, how and why? But most importantly will there be enough Mince Pies to go around?!!!!

Murder in Norwich

The Dunston Hall Hotel in Norfolk has just survived another Company Upfront, Murder Mystery which is more than a couple of our victim's managed to do!! The clients, EMAP wanted a production with a 'St Trinian's' theme and Murder at St Vernon's fitted the bill perfectly. This was our second production at the venue for EMAP and the 'Thank yous' and compliments at the end of the evening showed us that last night went down as well as last year's production of 'Murder at the Manor'.

Murder, Mystery and Mayhem for corporate entertaining

Wanted for Murder Detectives to Solve Dastardly Crimes

Although the dark cold evening of the autumn and winter months have a wonderful atmosphere for murder mystery events, whatever you do don't write off the summer month's.

To compliment your garden party or corporate/social event why not incorporate a summer production such as 'A Fete Worse than Death' or 'Murder at Calico Creek', both with a very summery theme.

Contact murder-www.murder-party.co.uk for full details.

Murder Mystery at the Bluebell Railway in September

Having taken a booking for sixteen novice detectives earlier today our evening of Murder, Mystery and Mayhem at the Bluebell Railway in September 2008 is nearly sold out, with just four tables remaining. However our productions in October and November still have just over half the places remaining for any of you budding detectives.

Another great venue for a Murder Mystery Evening

Next Thursday The Company Upfront are performing 'Murder in the Dark' a production set in the 1920's at the Law Society in central London. The evening of murder mystery and mayhem will work brilliantly in this made-to-measure venue! We wonder how our corporate detectives will fare?

Murder, Mystery and Mayhem in Austria

The Company Upfront Murder Mysteries to Die for, have just returned from one of their most unusual Murder Mystery booking in the seventeen years we have been in production. Having already staged events in venues such as castles, river boats, hotels, restaurants, private houses, football stadiums and steam trains to name a few, we were asked to take our production of 'Murder at the Manor' and perform it as a murder evening in a beautiful Palace in the middle of Vienna.

The murder evening was performed for a major world company, who supplied all of the lighting and sound equipment (which we normally bring ourselves) and with seven very large suitcases pack full of just a few personal items, but all of the props, costumes, note-pads and pens etc needed to perform a corporate murder mystery evening we flew to Vienna and performed to a mainly Austrian audience (who all spoke superb English), not only did we have a brilliant couples of days away, but from the comments we received from the participants on the night and following our return to the UK we know that our audience did as well.

We have on a number of occasions taken our productions using the trailer to France via La Shuttle, but the logistics of getting the production to Vienna via an airoplane made it nearly as complicated and fun as one of our murder mystery plots.

Murder and Mystery on the Golden Arrow

Having performed four murder mystery production a year at The Bluebell Railway in Sussex for over fourteen years, because of the high demand murder-party.co.uk are increasing the number of production to six for 2009 and up to one a month at the Bluebell for 2010.

With more people buying murder mystery gift vouchers as Birthday, Anniversary and Thank-you presents as well as the increase in companies using the unique murder evenings for corporate entertainment the relationship built up between murder-party and the Bluebell Railway can only go from strength to strength.
